Unable to run install – 404 error (Namesco)

  • Hello,

    I am trying to install WordPress and having some trouble when I get to the install stage. I have manually FTP’d my WordPress files (minus dir) to my root folder on my host (Namesco). I am now trying to run the install in a new web browser https://example.com/wp-admin/install.php and I am just getting a ‘Page Not Found’ error. I have checked that both the wp-admin file and install.php file have uploaded to my host successfully, which they have and have alsp checked the file permissions. I have rwx access to both so I don’t really understand why I cannot run this.

  • Can you upload a normal html file to the wp-admin directory and view it successfully? If you I would suggest removing the installation and trying again.
    If not, it could be a problem with your host or domain. At least you can narrow it down this way.
