    Hi Mike,

I have a minor problem, but I can work around it. I thought I should report it anyway in case it’s something that can be easily fixed.

I’m using a premium plugin called Magic Members to create a subscription-based membership site. It includes a [user_lostpassword] shortcode which embeds the lost password form into a web page. I checked the Force SSL box on that page, but unfortunately, the form does not work when I do that. The form seems to accept information, but it doesn’t do anything else. There’s no confirmation message, and it never sends the password recovery email.

My work-around is to not use SSL on that page, and this solves the problem. Since the username and email address are essentially public information, SSL isn’t strictly necessary there. I just wanted to implement the strongest possible privacy protections for all account-related functions on the website.

I’m also using the Theme My Login plugin, and interestingly enough, its lost password form has no problem working when Force SSL is checked. The plugin conflict appears to be confined to the Magic Members lost password form.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this? Can I provide any information to help you troubleshoot this? I will also bring this to the attention of the Magic Members support team.

    Thanks very much,

    Fred

P.S. Here’s one more piece of the puzzle: If I manually change HTTP to HTTPS in the address bar of my browser on the page with the Magic Members lost password form, it works fine! It’s only when WordPress HTTPS tries to force SSL that the form doesn’t work. Go figure. ??

    Hey Fred,

Is there anyway you can set this up on a test page so that I can test it myself? I think maybe there’s some strange redirection happening. That’s really the only thing that makes sense.

    Thanks,
    Mike

I believe 1.9.2 will make this work, but that’s just a long shot. Give it a try and let me know if that works.

We are using Magic Members (unlimited license) with eWay payment gateway for 3 months. Magic Members failing to update some members and their credit card charged by eWay. When members can not login they try to renew the account and Magic Members billing them for the second time. Magic Members tech support pretending to be trying to resolve this. But after three months we still have customers calling in and Magic Members failed to update their accounts while eWay billed their credit cards. When their plugin working with Credit Cards, they should be more careful than this. Magic Members fooling businesses who purchased license for the software. Promising something they can not offer. I do not recommend Magic Members for paid services.
