Calendar works like a charm. Excellent! My only question is does it support multiple calendars or will it support multiple calendars in the near future? Sorry I have to deactivate it for now and use another calendar plugin which supports multiple calendars. But as soon as the multiple calendar issue is resolved, I’ll surely go back to using this.

    Thanks!

Can you provide an example scenario of how you would use multiple calendars?

    Thanks

The client (or at least I) wants to run 3 calendars on the site I’m building. 1 calendar would show upcoming events, the other 2 would show the schedules of 2 different studios that they are running.

If you had the option of filtering the front-end calendar to only display a specific category, would that sufficiently address your needs, or does your implementation require three unique calendar administrators.

Can you provide a link to the calendar plugin you are currently using, it would help me understand the functionality you desire.

    Thanks

    Thanks for the speedy reply.

Well the requirement is actually three unique calendars each displaying different schedules.

Right now the site I am building is still offline, but I think a good example of the said functionality would be here: They have a calendar (actually more of a schedule chart) for Weekday Classes and another for Weekend Classes. That’s the exact functionality I am hoping for.

You can currently create multiple instances of the calendar on the front-end by adding the [calendar] shortcode to pages or posts.

To address this request, I will introduce a filter to the shortcode which will allow control of which categories are displayed on each front-end calendar created:
    [calendar category='parties'] vs [calendar category='classes']

This will support numerous front-end views, while maintaining a single administrative calendar for all calendar data separated by category – therefore, I’ll add category filtering to the administrative calendar.

Let me know if/how this falls short of your ultimate needs.

@eran, that would actually be perfect for my needs, where I have two clubs (one in Atlanta, another in south Florida) using the same main site, and having completely separate events scheduled on any given day.

A new beta has been released for those interested in testing and confirming that it works see this post for details.

I would love to have the feature to only display one category on the front end. Any idea if this feature will be added and when?

The answer is in the post about the beta, linked above.

Thanks, I opened the thread before you posted and then replied after.

I can provide an example. I need a calendar for each city. I am using the calendar as an events calendar for separate cities. Each city has it’s own categories. If I access city 1, I would see the events for that city, city2 different events and categories.

    Thank you.

    Thank you for your feedback.

However, I have no plans to add support for multiple calendars as you’ve described.

Plugin version 0.9.9.1 is now available for download.

    I am still so confused.

I have a master calendar (school calendar) with the following categories:
    Events
    Testing
    Exhibitions
    Deadlines

I want ONLY those four categories on the main School Calendar PAGE.

Yet, I would like each teacher’s page to have a calendar with their homework listed for that class. I would say a category for Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, etc. However, I can’t get this to work.

    1. How do I get the main calendar on the PAGE School Calendar to have ONLY those first four categories showing up?

    2. How does each teacher’s calendar get put up on their PAGE?

The [calendar=”Algebra 1″] on the Algebra 1 page still shows ALL calendar categories!

Also, what’s a Category Filter on the setup page? What does it do?

I searched the forums prior to posting, but found nothing useful. Can someone please guide me. I’d be soooo happy! ??

You want to create multiple calendars with multiple categories. This plugin does not support multiple calendars, only multiple views of the same calendar.

For example, if you have 5 categories listed 1-5 and want to display categories 1, 2 and 3 on one page, and 4 and 5 on another, you could simply create a page with [calendar categories=”1,2,3″] on one page and [calendar categories=”4,5″] on another.

Hope this clears up any confusion.
