Chile theme in a sub-directorie (host gator)

I have multiple sites hosted by host gator. I am trying to create a child theme but can not get it to work and i think i know why. The parent theme isnt located in “www/wp-content/themes/” its actually located in www/myothersite.com/wp-content/themes , the child theme is also located here. How can i modify the child style.css to call this location. I’ve tried a few things and continue to get a “broken theme” error in my dashboard. Anybody dealt with this before.. Thanks..
