• I’ve poured through several threads thinking this would be a common issue but I’ve only found blogger to WP issues and not WP.com to WP.org (self hosted) issues.

I have 213 post at gottmilk.wordpress.com which I was able to successfully export however importing them to gottmilk.igottcha.com yielded just a bit over half of them being imported successfully.

So I cleared out the post from the table in phpMyAdmin and decided to export my blog in three smaller files each less than 700k each. The first two xml files seemed to upload fine however the last one keeps timing out on me. I’ve tried it twice last night and once this morning.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Never mind. Perhaps I’m working too hard.

I exported that third file again and it worked this time (thought it did generate a couple of “Menu item skipped due to missing menu slug” errors.

There 211 posts that are now present at my new blog which means those two errors caused two posts to fail in being brought over. I’ll track those down manually and just copy and past them over; completely acceptable ??

    I’m happy.

    Hello.
I recommend to use Xcloner plugin.
It makes backup of wordpress website, and can be used to move entire website. It backups Database and files into a archive.

On the new domain fresh installed wordpress install xcloner and upload the backup from oringinal domain. Just hit restore. Xcloner can add a clear command to sql db si it will write the entire db from oringinal website to new one.

    give it a look.

I checked out the site and read over the “About XCloner” however it doesn’t look like it would help me with my particular WP.com issue. Please correct me if I am wrong and I will look into it further.

First look would suggest that I would have to have XCloner installed on both the outgoing and the incoming backup. And since I can not install ‘any’ plugins at WP.com then this wouldn’t help me.

Thanks for the otherwise nice suggestion however ??
