Problem with images

I cannot get any images to appear on the page. I upload them fine and can view them to alter them but as soon as I save them I just get a small cross in a square sign and the image does not appear on the screen.

Does any one know what the problem can be. I have uploaded the plug in eshop….and have the same problem with this…not sure if they are connected problems…as it happens on my eshop products page as well as my home page.
