• It seems that the famous 5-steps install is not working for me at all since there’s 3 days already looking through the forum and trying to make WP work.

    My host is running
    PHP 4.3.9RC1
    MySQL 3.23.49
    Apache server

After install, everything goes just fine, exept that i cannot see, or access my plugins and my themes in the administration panels.

On plugins tab I see the “Couldn’t open plugins directory or there are no plugins available.” message.

On Presentation tab, I cannot see any themes listed, getting this message:

    “Current Theme
    by
The active theme is WordPress Default. The template files are located in . The stylesheet files are located in .”

I DID downloaded several plugins and themes and uploaded them via ftp in wp-content/plugins and wp-content/themes folders accordingly (so there are files in those folders).

I checked for zero filesize files.

I chmod all files and folders to 777, and still no luck.

I even tried previous versions of WP (1.2.2 and 1.5) and I got exactly the same issues. Everything goes just fine (posting, commenting, links, pages, categories, etc) except the plugins and themes pages in admin panel.

It might be a host issue but as I am not getting any server error at all, I don’t even know what to ask for to my hosting provider.

Any ideas are very vert much appreciated, sine I’m on a verge to get nuts! Thank you in advance

  • I’d try to download/upload again the files from the wp-admin directory.

well, I did uploaded them and unfortunately, not once :(((

Did you do that again and again from your existing files, or did your try a new download, too? (sometimes files might get corrupted during the download).

    :))

I did download, as I said, even different versions (thinking that my host doesn’t meet all requirements), deleted the ones that were up, uploaded the new ones and so on, with no luck. Multumesc oricum moshu ??
