I just typed in https://www.worpress.org and up came a URL with survey and other word in it. The blue box said: Congratulations you are the August 11th winner from Texas. Now, I am a computer consultant and recognize redirects but this computer has been clean and no other indications of problems like that. So, I just have to ask: is this something that wordpress does? Give prizes out? [I hear a resounding laughter as people answer ‘no.]

Right now I have that survey open in the other window; giftcardeal.com and will wait to hear from someone.

When I read their privacy policy it says they’ll do whatever the ___ they want to do with my personal info. So, unless this really is a $1000 Best Buy gift card I’ll be moving on.

I opened another tab and typed in www.ads-software.com and it took me here.

  • Confirmed. However, I too, was only able to duplicate the issue once. I went no farther than the “Congratulations” pop-up dialog.

The redirect went to /funtestit.com/d/w1o2r838 The popup is presently active on that url.

I would not be afraid to say with a high level of confidence that this is probably not a wordpress approved event.

[edit] I’ve managed to duplicate the behavior several times in more than one browser, (with a clean cache). The destinations seem to vary.

    https://www.worpress.org is missing a D ?? WORpress.

That is called a clever scammer.

Well tie me to an ant hill and spread jam in my ears.

Plain as day! How did I miss that? They got me.

@ipstenu.. it’s okay if you’re laughing at me. Really, it is. I can take it. ??

Nah, it’s hella easy to miss ?? (I laughed more at the ingenuity of worPress. That’s kinda awesome, and I should make WarPress or some other silly thing.)

@ipstenu haha – I just failed typing. And I misspelled it twice?!?!
You are right. That brings it up every time. Thanks for solving the mystery. Now you can go to worpress.org to win your prize after you’ve given all your personal info to them ??

I’ve heard of people finding great deals on eBay by guessing at the misspelling of an item and matching some seller who made the mistake. Hmm…
