• Hi! Need some help! ??

I started with a free wordpress.com blog site then i upgraded and bought my own domain. I decided to transfer it to www.ads-software.com. I get a hosting company (i chose hostbig.com) for my domain and then installed the www.ads-software.com software using Fantastico. I also did change the nameserver for my domain. But when I try logging in using mydomain.com/wp-admin, I am always being directed back to wordpress.com login site. In the wp.com login form, i tried using there the login details I set for the wp.org, but as expected, i always get an error. I am stuck right now and I have read and followed many tutorials about moving from wp.com to wp.org but still same results.. I do not know what to do anymore.

Im such a newbie! I hope you can help me! Thanks! ??

  • Just to cover the basics since I am not sure what you have already done/tried:

First, after installing WordPress from within fantastico, you’ll want to then import your blog data using the import / export tool. If you can not log in yet to your own domain’s WordPress, just make sure you have the information exported from WP.com. Some hosts give you a temporary/server URL so you can access your account before the nameserver change has taken effect. If so, you can go ahead and import your old site to your new site using the Import tool.

The problem you may run into is being able to log into your new admin section if your domain name is not yet pointing. Remember that even after changing the nameservers, it can take up to 24 hours to propagate. If you can provide the domain name I’d be happy to look into it further to see if the DNS settings are reading the new nameservers.
