changing permissions

  • since setting up my website I cannot edit some files and I need the .haccess file for permalinks etc, so I am changing the httpdocs file to 766 as suggested in wordpress help for changing permissions.

    However when I do that everything become inaccessable

    can someone help me make all my wordpress files wriatable?
