• When I am logged into WP working on my site an EDIT button appears on my live/published website. This is not good! I have looked everywhere and do not know how to turn this option off even with css of the theme. How do disable this edit button please. Thank you.

  • Only you see the edit button; only people that are logged in and have the ability to edit that page/post will see it. It’s just a way for logged in users to quickly edit a particular page/post without going through the dashboard.

That would be nice but it appears that if I have the home page open in a complete other browser the edit button appears next to the admin button when I am in the dashboard in a seperate browser. If I am not in the dashboard it does not appear on the other browser showing the home page. I hope this makes sense.

A link to your website might be helpful. Are you saying that the edit button appears even when you have not logged in? The edit button on posts and pages should only show if, in the browser(s) you are currently using, you have logged in.

If you are in the dashboard…. you are logged in.

If you’ve ever logged in on either browser, and not cleared all your cookies, you may still get logged in, and see the edit.

I can assure you that only you can see the edit. Individuals not logged in cannot see any edit button, only logged in people whom you have granted the proper user level to would be able to see that.

I have also tried different browsers, logged out-logged in, still the same problem as above. The edit button is there for anyone to see and edit my blog. Very frustrated since don’t know how to resolve this!!!
