• Regarding Events Manager Plugin:

Hi, I like this plugin but I don’t understand why when registering for an event, one gets added as a registered member for the entire WP site.

ie. I don’t want attendees to have to login, or register as a subscriber, they simply need to complete and send a form. I found a plugin that uses perfect logic, but it’s a bit basic and they must remove the forced Paypal integration: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/wpeventticketing/

If users do need to register, then their details should be in a different table in the DB, for the specific event they registered for – not the main WP Users table?

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks

  • I concur, this isn’t good. I don’t want every attendee to bloat up space in the WP Users table. Why is this? Put it in the Events Manager table instead.

I agree, we are running a private buddypress multisite network for teen after school projects, and just want parents be able to signup for events. We don’t want them to have wp accounts because they could potentially then login and look at stuff, that defeats the privacy.

Not so much worried about the parents, but more unkown thirdparty who signs up for a event.

I must agree as well. I plan to use this plugin for Astronomy Club and not every attendee ever showing up for observation events (relatives, friends) necessarily should be in the main user database.
On the other hand, if they return and they suppose tobe recognised as ALREADY booked (this use case makes sense and is configurable) then you would need an account.
Seems, I got no choice and need to clean up according to activity (user’s last login) every year…

I also agree. I REALLY want to use this plugin for a non-profit site that’s launching next week. We were going to use Event Espresso, but this one is much more admin friendly & easy enough that a secretary could update the site.

Unfortunately if people can’t just sign up for events using their name & email address (& NOT have to log into WP), I can’t use it.

Any chance this will be available sometime soon? If not, any advice on how we could hack the plugin to make it work this way?

Hi guys, I started this thread, I see you’re running into trouble too.

I’m trying to build a registration system for a once off conference, tried every event plugin in the directory without success!

NOTE: The below option has NO PAYMENT OPTIONS. (Which is fine for my project, if you need online payment you need to keep on looking)

I’m now attempting a Frankenstein maneuver using Contact Form 7 (You should know this plugin)

    Contact Form 7
    https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/contact-form-7/

    with:
Contact Form 7 to Database Extension
    https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/contact-form-7-to-database-extension/
This is a great plugin, stores submitted data in the database (and NOT in the wp_users table). A ‘nice-to-have’ feature is to edit the submitted data, but you need to purchase an upgrade for $50, at this point that’s reasonable for me.

    and:
Contact Form 7 Dynamic Text Extension
    https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/contact-form-7-dynamic-text-extension/
Haven’t checked it out, but I do need it for unique registration numbers.

I think Contact Form 7 plus the 2 additional plugins will do the trick for me. I’ll post an update soon…

    Good luck. Alistair.
