Cant view admin area

  • Hey Guys,

    So I recently installed the GD Tools plugin on my site & now I cant view my network admin area. I am running the latest WordPress version + Buddypress + WordPress Multisite. The site was running perfectly till I installed that plugin. The only palce to install or uninstall plugins is in the network admin area, I only have access to wp-admin area not wp-admin/network. I’m thinking I might have to uninstall the plugin in phpmyadmin? any insight into my situation will be greatly appreciated.

  • If you have access to the file system via FTP or SSH, you could just rename the plugin’s folder so that it doesn’t execute.

    Hey Daryl,

    Thanks for the response, but I tried that & all that happens is, I get a message in the admin panel stating the the Error: plugin wasn’t installed properly. Any thoughts?

    Any errors in your logs? What error do you see when attempting to view the network admin? Do you have prerequisites for the plugin installed? Looks like there’s a little FAQ here on manually disabling plugins, but it’s really for disabling everything. If you try the phpmyadmin thing, instead of resetting the active_plugins value all the way, you could try slicing and dicing the value to extract the plugin in question. I could help with that if you want to paste the value (though exposing what plugins you’re using might be more exposure than you’re really interested in). Be sure to save the original value somewhere before making any edits. ??

    This is the error I am recieving:
    “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”

    I ran this query to find active_plugins
    SELECT * FROM wp_options WHERE option_name = ‘active_plugins’;

    and I don’t see the GD Tools plugin below

    Well that’s bizarre. Is it possible that the plugin somehow reduced your admin rights somehow? Or are there other users who may have demoted you?
