• Most of my posts have youtube video embed code (old style embed) but many of them (most in fact) all of a sudden have lost the embed code. Some were published weeks ago. Somehow in the last week or so their youtube embed code went away. If I go into a post with the editor and update, the embed code comes back in the published version.

So it looks like something went thru all my posts and stripped out the embed code in many/most of my posts.

I recently installed a JW player and am wondering if it did that.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Which JW player? It’s possible you have a weird conflict going on.

    Ipstenu:

Now that I look at it, I had 3 video plugins so you’re probably on target (see below) … I’ve disabled the last one (JW Player) since it was the one I put in recently – at about the time this appears to have happened. Most of my posts have missing youtube videos now, but they disappeared only recently. Google’s index pages for them have the youtube videos in there correctly. So something just went thru all my published code and took out the youtube embeds. I use the “old style” of youtube embeds.

I can fix this by just opening each post in the editor and simply updating, but with 150 posts that will be tedious. Any ideas on doing it faster?

    Thanks for your help!!

Here are video plugins I have:

    1) Flash Video Player
Simplifies the process of adding video to a WordPress blog. Powered by Jeroen Wijering’s FLV Media Player and SWFObject by Geoff Stearns.
    Version 5.0.4 | By Joshua Eldridge |

    2) Easy Tube
Plugin to easliy place YouTube objects in WordPress Content
Version 1.9 | By Paul Bain | Visit plugin site

    3) JW Player Plugin for WordPress
Embed a JW Player for Flash into your WordPress articles.
Version 1.4.3 | By LongTail Video Inc. | Visit plugin site

Easy Tube is probably the culprit. If you were using that and then STOPPED, it could have had specific code that’s no longer working.

After I looked at it, I realized that I wasn’t using it. I had problems with it so just stuck to pulling in the embed code directly from youtube.

I’m thinking now that it was the JW Player by longtail video, since it was the new one that I brought in when all this happened. Is that possible?

Anyway, I have disabled all 3 except for Flash Video Player. If you have a better suggestion than Flash Video Player (just for playing my own hosted videos) I’d appreciate it.

I’m just editing each post one by one, and updating to correct this now… taking forever…

    Thanks.

just to make it clear – something went thru all my published code and removed all the youtube embed code – of most posts. Luckilyg, the embed code is still in the original code for each post so I can update to fix.

I use Viper’s Video Quicktags, which doesn’t bother the default embed functionality at all. Toss the URL in and go for YouTube, and a nice flv for my own vids.

(you DO know you can just paste in https://youtube.com/?v=jklherjhgdsf and it’ll magically work, right?)
