Help modifying homepage links. Need to remove .js function

Hi there,

I have a site https://www.chadvalley.info and am trying to modify the theme to remove the hover over preview.

I would be happy with either removing all hover over effects and making the links directly clickable to the posts. Alternatively I would like the read more button to be immediately viewable without and of the preview text.

I can see I have hoverintent.js script running which is applying these effects.

I have a further side issue; I would also like to change the number of visible posts on the homepage. Can you tell me where this might be possible?
