• We recently externalized our commenting which means that there is no reason to expire our posts / pages unless we either a) make a theme/sidebar change (in which case we would clear all cache) or b) make an edit to the content of the post or page (which happens very infrequently).

With that in mind there are only a few things that expire on a regular basis, the home page, tags and categories.

Is there a suggested configuration to allow posts to not expire, while at the same time allowing home page, tags and categories to expire when needed?

    Following up on this question.

Considering turning off garbage collection and having a cron job clean up home page, categories, tags and feeds every 15 minutes.

This will allow me to retain cached posts/pages indefinitely and manually purge if needed.

Let me know if anyone sees any inherent flaws in this type of implementation.
