How to highlight posts on static home page

I’m trying to highlight posts on my static home page. I’ve followed the directions on Creating a Static Front Page, where it mentions that one can “highlight posts”, but I can’t find the solution.

I created the alternative Home page because I want the blog articles to not land on the Home page, but in the article archive. (I successfully created the new Blog page for this purpose.) Basically, I’m creating more of a CMS look than a traditional Blog look. That said, I’d still like to have a running list of current Articles (as a teaser) on the Home page. Is there something I could plug-in or RSS feed in the home page’s Edit page that would do this?

Obviously, I’m new to WP. (I’m used to working with Textpattern) which provides for tags and plugins to do such a thing.

Help would be much appreciated!
