• Hello!
Can anyone tell me how to remove an image I’ve uploaded for the header? I know that I can upload a new one, but I wnat to use the random feature with the images I’ve uploaded and I need to remove some I don;t like before I can do that. I think I’ve looked everywhere to find this info, but haven’t yet found the answer. Thank you in advance!!

  • Uploaded files are stored in the:
    /files/2011/09/

If you’re talking about default files (TwentyEleven) – they are in:
    /wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/images/headers

    Did you find them?

I went into editor to look, but couldn’t find /files/2011/09/. Am I looking in the right place? I have just enough coding knowledge to pretend :))

You may have to FTP in to find these…

For randomizing custom images: From the dashboard, Under Appearance choose Header. Upload at least 2 custom images and a random option will appear for your custom images.

To remove custom images: From the dashboard, under Media choose Library. Look for the custom images you wish to remove. Hover over the image to delete and a delete permanently link will appear.

NOTE: Removing an images that is in the custom random header for the 2011 theme will cause the random to return to the default images. Use item 1 above to reset the random to your custom images.

    manndtp…I love you!

I have been trying to remove the header images I have used on the WordPress site. WhatI would like is to use four custom headers and rotate through them.
    This works great.

My problem is removing the old banners/headers. Clicking on the “remove”button did not remove them.
Following the instructions I found hear, if found the images and deleted them.

The problem I have now is the radio buttons did not disappear and the when in the “random” mode it still is trying to use the non-existant image and the blog appears with no header image.

How can I get rid of the unused radio buttons?

Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. It is the default WordPress theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues. Create a child theme for your changes.
