• Hi all,

I am doing some work on some client sites and I am having an issue installing themes.

The client is using WP multisite. I have upgraded his sites to WP 3.2.1 successfully, although the ‘update network’ link is not working, and neither is network admin.

I have uploaded the new theme to the wp-content folder, but it is not showing as an option in themes within the admin section.

I have read many posts on this issue and checked all the obvious issues. This problem is NOT due to nested folders, permissions or uploading using ascii/binary. The theme is compatible, as I have tried it on a fresh install of WP on another site.

At this stage I think the issue is either with multisite, or some idiosyncrasy with the way the sites were set up – the previous developer has left a bit of a mess. Is it possible that he may have somehow limited the available themes?

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

  • you upload new themes in the blog.dir folder under /wp-content
you then must network activate them

at top right of dashboard – the admin link when clicked on won’t let you go to network dashboard?

Thanks Samuel – I haven’t used multisite before so I’m not really familiar with the network admin.

That’s right, I cannot get to the network dashboard.

When I go to wp-admin/network/ I get “Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.”

I’ve tried clearing the cache and played with the cookie settings with no luck.

I’ve tried multiple browsers, and the page just times out. I have the same issue with all of the client’s sites with multisite installed, although not with a test site on my own server which I have enabled multisite on.

Unfortunately I’m not sure how this problem has come about as it has been like this since I took the sites on, and the previous developer is not available.

    I really appreciate the help.
