Media Library counts non-existant unattached Images

The numbers displayed by the ML in my WP Installation (running amongst other plugins WPML, File Gallery, Revisions) are wrong. This seems to have to effect on daily proceedings, but somewhere something must be slowly corrupting the database, or not? And that would be very worrisome.

Here is what I mean:
The ML shows 1383 images when showing them all (I thought there should be 1266, but of this I can’t be sure) as is shown on the right side next to pagination. The category count above, claims to find 1952 “All” entries, all of them being “Images”, of which 437 should be “Unattached”. When I choose to display those 437 unattached images, the ML claims to find no attachments in that category.

The math does not work out, no matter what you do, eg. 1952-437!=1383 and so on. I’m just worried that something is corrupting the database somewhere and in time will lead to a broken site. As I have long left my real programming days behind me, Im not even able to find out where those numbers are coming from, speak what is asked of the DB to get those numbers and if those queries maybe just don’t make sense…

Any ideas?
