  • While Simple:Press currently has quite a nice set of features, I would have a look at bbPress as it is a light weight forum from the same people behind WordPress.

Thanks for the reply ! Can you also tell me how to use bbpress ? I’ve downloaded it on my website, but unable to use it properly for starting a forum.

You would be best asking over at https://bbpress.org.

bbPress is a pain in the butt to set up. Add to that the fact that, for the time being the entire thing is more or less in beta mode and riddled with issues, and the fact that it’s integration with WP is yet to be ironed out, and that it provides almost no admin controls, and you’ll see that the better forum is Simple:Press. Robust, full of controls, easy to set up just as clean looking. If Simple:Press is more forum than you need, shoot over to Mingle Forum. Cartpauj, the creator is now working on a new version of Mingle Forum and that might end up being great too. If you are working in multisite, then Simple:Press is the only one that is fully compatible.

I tried Simple:Press, downloaded the plugin and installed.
But during the install process of forum, which is built-in process, it takes such a long time that I litteraly tried it for 1 and 1/2 hour, with no results…
    please help anybody…

Simple:Press takes about 15 seconds to install itself, unless there are conflicts, and the only time I had any problem was from other plugins. I deleted Simple, then deactivated all other plugins, installed Simple, and re-activated my plugins one at a time until I found the errant plugin. In my case, it was a plugin that was no longer being supported and was actually no longer compatible with the current WordPress version. Nevertheless, they have a support forum where you should be able to do some trouble-shooting.

    Hi,
I found here some plugins name click here

    Thanks bobschecter,
Will you please tell me some domain where this plugin is actually running, so that I will be able to see the demo of this forum?

One more thing, am asking to every WP team member…
Can I not have the plugin for forum, which will be exactly like this…
I mean the theme used for this WP forum itself…?

The site offers a demo, but I just did an install on a site. Nothing posted really, but you are welcome to look HERE

These forums use a heavily customised version of bbPress.

    Very heavily.

I wonder why they’re having so much trouble scaling it down. I’ve been going back to it, what seems like forever, and each time it seems there are more glitches than the last.

As I understand it, it’s being converted into a plugin but, as it attracts far less general interest than WordPress, work is progressing very slowly. ??

    Bobschecter,
I tried deactivating all the plugins and then performing installation of Simple Press, without any luck…
When I pressed the button of “perform installation” since then it is around 20 minutes, nothing happened…
    Please help…

the design at https://vetinformed.com/forum/ is really cool…
Its so nice, but I was asking for such a theme that will resemble like this one as it is here on this forum of WP
    can you suggest one?
