Unfortunately, I don’t have good news on this. Bulk import of CSV files is not possible at the moment, and I don’t think that I can add it easily in the future.
Also, I don’t really think that it would be useful: After all, you would still have to add the respective Shortcodes to your posts/pages.
Additionally, you are likely going to suffer from performance problems.

So, instead, I suggest that you look into a custom solution, e.g. based on PHP and a mySQL tables.

You mentioned performance problems. What would you say is the upper limit of number of tables for smallish tables (20-100max rows)
200 tables of around 50 rows each fine?

unfortunately, I don’t really have numbers for this, as it heavily depends on the server setup and how busy WordPress already is.
From my experience, your numbers should probably be ok, but to be sure, you’ll simply need to test it.
This could also help you in finding out if the user experience of managing/handling that number of tables is still reasonable for you.
