menu for post dates

  • I’ve made a custom post type called news. In the sidebar of all of the news posts and the news page that display all of the latest news i want a menu.

    This menu needs to be filled with months, like October 2011 September 2011 and so on. When i click on one of this months it will filter all of the posts only showing posts from say September 2011.

    Also when your on a news post the month in the menu should expand showing showing other posts from that month.

    How can i do this?
