converting entire site to https ssl

can someone please tell me how to go about changing the site to https?

changing it in settings the site address and url to https instead of http does work …however all the /wp-content/uploads are all absolute urls like https://mydomain.com/wp-content/uploads/someimage.jpg …. so they break the https ..any advice would be appreciated
