Transfer issues

  • Probably should introduce myself, I’m Derek and I’m starting a blog called The Campus Pros.

    I started out by registering the domain name through Google(enom) because I was originally going to use blogger (I know, huge mistake). Now I have to wait 60 days to transfer my domain name over to blue host. Can I still work on my new wordpress blog in the meantime or do I have to wait on the the transfer to go through?

  • you can develop your WP in localhost. But you have to wait for the domain name transfer to complete before you can access it with your domain name. But why not change the DNS of your domain to point to Bluehost and use it?
    What do you want to transfer the domain registrar?

    Any recommendations on how to develop in localhost?

    I have a blogger site now but I want to start over with wordpress on Bluehost with the same domain. I can’t transfer for another 35 days. If I change the DNS will I be able to work on the wordpress on bluehost?

    You do not need to transfer a domain name to use it with any host. You simply need to change the nameservers of your domain name at GoDaddy to point to your BlueHost account and wait for it to propagate which typically is 24 hours or less.

    transfer takes 60 days?

    Hi CampusPro, have you been able to make progress on pointing your domain’s nameservers to bluehost and then setting up WordPress on bluehost?

    @agag, when a domain name is initially registered, it cannot be transferred to another registrar within the first 60 days of registration. So even though you cannot transfer the domain to another registrar, you can still update your domain’s nameservers and point the domain name to another hosting company.
