Can I take care for different post on pages on a archive

Hello,

I have the layout Notebook Chaos.
What I want to achieve is that on page 1 of a particular month or category 1 article is placed and on the rest of the months or category 2 or more articles are displayed.

And also the cb-different-post plugin but all with no luck.

I hope someone can help me so I don’t have to give up on WordPress.
I trying to solve this annoying puzzle for more then a week.
