Famous 5-minute Install turns into 5-day Ordeal

I checked https://www.novarelle.com/wp/ and typed wp-admin I mean I typed https://www.novarelle.com/wp/wp-admin it was working fine.

There seems to be 2 sub-directories involved. One is named “blog”, and the other “wp”. I suspect you either have wordpress installed more than once, or you’ve made an error in your urls in the Dashboard settings, or you’re getting ahead of yourself with creating a network of sites.

That’s strange when you say that:
https://www.novarelle.com/wp/wp-admin
is working fine, because from my computer/connection I keep getting the “access denied” error.
Should I try a different computer/connection setup?

Yes there are 2 sub-directories, but they are two un-related setups and they are both using different databases.

I don’t think my “access denied” issue is due to the fact that I have more than one Worpress installations.

I might be wrong here, but this is what more likely believe is the case.

I was finally able to access the login page, but only after coming though a proxy service.

Why is WordPress admin access being denied to my IP: 212.28.240.99?

Check with your host if the IP address is blocked for some reason some hosts do block if you try log in with wrong log in info more then 5 times.

Then you should be asking yourself why accessing the /wp-admin directory on one, redirects to the login page on the other. That should not be happening, agreed?

I agree with you completely. I’ve done the same thing many times with great success. However, if you botched something up with your URL’s (as the re-direct from one site to the other suggests), then the results become less predictable.

I think your ip is most like being blocked for reasons unrelated to your WordPress sites. It might even be on a blacklist somewhere. It happens.

hey bud, try checking the database, sounds like your WP admin table is wrong.

go to PHPmyAdmin and check the following table:
wp_options
option_name
look at ID 1 (siteurl), and 37 (home)

see if the “option_value” is set properly.
for example, I think you find that

is reading
https://www.novarelle.com/wp/

for both option_name
ID 1 (siteurl), and 37 (home)
update it and you should be good.

The issue has been resolved. It has to do more with my Internet access provider than with WordPress.

Thanks for everybody’s input. My hosting company (Hostgator.com, I highly recommend them for their service and value) has send my this reply that shed the light on this mystery after I had sent them a screenshot of the “access denied” error:

There are no IP blocks to your site on the server. Looking at the screen shot you provided this error is not being generated by the server. The message is being generated by a cached proxy that is operating between your access point and the public internet. We can tell this from the following information on the bottom line of the screen where it identifies your cache administrator. Using another proxy bypasses this restriction which is why its visible to you through that method. You will need to contact the cache owner to have them open or unrestrict this url type “wp-login.php” or your whole site to remove this error.
