How can I maintain post URL after updating Old posts?

    You may refer this article, find the section “Fixing permalinks for imported post”, hope that will help you.
    Note: Make sure to take backup of your WordPress database before making the changes.

    Thanks for the response Nitun but that isn’t what I am looking for. I’ve accomplished the steps from the above link. What I’m trying to achieve now is to be able to update old posts (and bring it to the top as a new post) rather than creating an entirely new post, without altering the existing url.
    Any suggestion on this?
