    I’m at step 5 of the WordPress installation process as described at:

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/iis#Step_5._Enable_clean_URLs_.28Pretty_Permalinks.29

    …I’ve done substep 3 to choose & save my permalink settings.

    Substep 4 says to “Click in the gray text field, press CTRL + A, and then press CTRL + C” in order to copy some html code to create a new web.config file to put in the root directory of my site — but there is no gray text field of html code on the permalink page (in substep 3), and there is no explanation of where to go to find this gray text field of html code at the beginning of substep 4. Where do I go to find the code I’m supposed to copy?

    Thanks!

    It will appear after you have saved your permalink changes.

    Hi ,

    The exact code for your reference is :

    <configuration>
    <system.server>
    <rewrite>
    <rules>
    <rule name=”wordpress” patternSyntax=”Wildcard”>
    <match url=”*” />
    <conditions>
    <add input=”{REQUEST_FILENAME}” matchType=”IsFile” negate=”true” />
    <add input=”{REQUEST_FILENAME}” matchType=”IsDirectory” negate=”true” />
    </conditions>
    <action type=”Rewrite” url=”index.php” />
    </rule>
    </rules>
    </rewrite>
    </system.server>
    </configuration>

    By the way i have worked on so many wordpress websites never used this code, if you still have any problem please update the issue further.

    Thanks
