• Okay let me just start off by saying I have been reading many of the posts regarding this and so far I’ve yet to find a single one that refers to what I am seeking. Okay, so like many others I have a problem with my blog at https://blog.nonmundane.org/ which is if you look at it in IE the sidebar falls to the bottom of the page.

I am working with a slightly modified Kubrick, its not close to being done yet. Basically I’m going to stretch it out a bit wider and make single page displays utilize the entire width instead of the limited 450px space which leaves too much whitespace floating on the sides.

Now I realize my problem is because I have photos that extend past the width of the narrowcolumn part of the main page layout. I have seen people on here say to just go ahead and add a ‘width=”450″‘ entry into my img src statements.

This however breaks other behavoir I have been working on, namely if you click on a posting to go to its single page the image is now constrained to 450px width even though it can legally go much wider (650px currently).

    So my questions are:

    1. How can I fix the IE sidebar problem on the main index page without having to resort to inserting width=”450″ in all images?

    2. For being the default theme used in WP wouldn’t it be helpful to those who support WP to ensure that Kubrick doesn’t have an easily borked sidebar under IE since this would pretty much eliminate all of these questions about the sidebar and IE? Not to mention it could probably be applied to other themes as well?

I’ve found WP to be very well documented, however I am not a wizard of CSS nor a learned man of the black arts of IE workaround hacks. Modifying this theme has proven to be a very recursive kind of learning as I go down a level of information to only find yet another level waiting for me to look into. It is a bit much to take in all at once. But I am very happy with WP so far and once I get this theme hacked up and a few other hacks working I don’t see anything that will require much in the way of maintenance to have to do which is impressive.

In any case, if anyone has some help or pointers to how to solve this I would be very grateful. Thanks!

  • I had the same problem with my site man.
I was going to make 2 CSS files, one for IE and other one for FF. And then include a JavaScript which load the CSS file according to the browser.

But then someone recommended me start it all over again, which didn’t take that long. Now it looks perfect in both IE and Firefox.

You could do the same, maybe. =/
