    Hello !
I have been using Next Gen Gallery without problems since almost three years.
Since 1 week, I got problem for adding new pictures.
Upload is ok, but when it comes to create Thumbnails.

This is the message I can read
    ****************************************
1 picture(s) successfully added [Edit gallery]

    ID 3556: A failure occurred
    [more]

Warning: imagecreatefromjpeg() [function.imagecreatefromjpeg]: ‘/home/www/www.xxx.fr/htdocs/wp-content/gallery/cover-style/XXXX.jpg’ is not a valid JPEG file in /home/www/www.xxx.fr/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/lib/gd.thumbnail.inc.php on line 180
xxx.jpg (Error : Create Image failed. Check memory limit)

    ****************************************
    I try to change the @ini_set(‘memory_limit’, ’128M’); to ‘256M’ but this change didn’t work…

    So I downgrade for 1.8.4, but didn’t work… but still didn’t work.

I try to upload .Jpg without any plugins activate, still didn’t work.

    I just saw that I can upload small pics (128 X 128, 10Ko) without problems. (128 X 128)
    But if I wanna upload a 450 X 500 pic, 95ko, the Thumbnails cannot be created…

    Those are my server settings…
Operating System : Linux (64 Bit)
    Server : Apache/2.2.21 (Debian)
    Memory usage : 43.42 MByte
    MYSQL Version : 5.0.51a-24+lenny2

  • I have version 1.9.1 and I can’t create thumbnails either. In fact the picture upload doesn’t work properly and the full picture is not available even if it says it has been uploaded.

I can actually get access to the uploaded image (but not the thumbnail) by using the “recover” function. As the image is on its side, when I try rotating, I get a new error message saying it doesn’t work.

We got the same error, It really happens for no reasons…

I was still on 1.9.0 when I got stuck for “creating Thumbnails”

I tried to downgrade Next Gen Gallery (1.8.4), and I messed up all my picture order and galleries. I’m so piss off !
Now all my pictures are in disorder…3 years of disorder !

I really cannot help you Almacme, sorry.

If anyone know how to put in order, galleries, and images… It will be really helpful.

    Thanks, all the same.
Do you have automatic database backups? If you have, maybe you could use those to restore what went before.
    Alan.

I had hopes that I would finally be able to upload photos successfully to Next Gen Gallery (version 1.9.1) with the release of Word Press 3.3.1. But It is still impossible to upload photos (or rather an error occurs in creating thumbnails). The software was so reliable for such a long time and then suddenly, some time in December 2011, it broke down. Now either it is a local problem and in which case we can do something about it individually, or else it is a wider problem, but then in that case loads of people must have the problem. Judging from the lack of response here, that doesn’t seem to be the case. If you have suggestions PLEASE let us know. Thanks.
    Alan.
