Upgrade to 3.3 "didn't go well"

To quote Top Gear, the auto upgrade from 3.2.1 to 3.3 “didn’t go well”. First time it failed, so I adjusted permissions a bit and then it ran. Now though I get the log in screen, the admin bar but nothing else-just get blank screens.
So far I’ve:
removed all installed plug ins and themes except 2011.
reset plug ins folder via phpmyadmin and by changing folder name
Other than a manual reinstall what else should I try?
