• Hi,

I need to change just 1 permalink so I can redirect it to a different page, but I don’t want to change the permalink structure for the whole site.

What and where is the file located where this permalink is located so I can go in and alter it? I’ve been pulling my hair our for hours and trawled through many files… please help!

    Many thanks,

    Scott

  • WordPress doesn’t generate files for each page, it stores information in the database. When the URL is generated WordPress uses the permalink structure to figure out what content you want from the database. There is no file to change to fix this ‘one’ item.

What are you trying to do exactly? Provide a link to the page in question, where you want it to be (the new permalink) and why/what you want to accomplish.

If you simply want to send everyone that goes to page A to page B set up a 301 redirect for the pages. I often use the plugin below if there are a bunch on the site.

    Hi Curtismchale,

I tried many redirection plugins but not the one you linked above. And it has worked beautifully!

Many thanks for your prompt response and help.

    Have a wonderful new year,

    Scott
