Tracking Comments on Hidden Posts
-
I am using this version of the Post Level plugin to create posts only visible to registered users, not so much in an effort to make them all that private (I let anyone register who wants to and access is granted immediately), but just to keep some of my personal blathering from being on the front page, keep it out of Google, and know basically who is reading it.
My problem is, after spending the last few days reading the forums and the codex and trying a few things, is that I would like to find an easy way for my registered users to see when new comments have been made to these “registered only” posts. I have been using Customizable Post Listings on my site to list recently commented entries, and I thought I could tweak that somehow to force it to show posts saved as private using Post Levels as well, but no luck so far. I also thought about making a page with just the private category entries listed and comment counts, but have failed to be able to get that to work either (likely a failing in my intelligence and knowledge). The comments on these posts are tracked and listed in the admin panel, so I played around with that as well thinking if they are listed there, I should be able to list them elsewhere, but no luck on that front aside from breaking my whole site a few times over the last few days. ??
I wouldn’t mind, and in fact would prefer, that the recently commented private posts be listed with the other public posts, because I am not really trying to hide them all that much. Clicking the link to a private post takes people to a page that tells them they have to register to read it, and they can do so right then and there. So … any ideas? I’m a little in over my head, and feel it should be possible to do what I want to do, but I don’t know enough to make it happen. LOL!
