• I know this is one of the most difficult things in site building. How to get to the top of Googles seachresults. At least a position on page 1, 2 or 3 would be nice ??

I build a clean site without any tricks, and only use Yoast’s SEO plugin. The site was doing very well, but suddenly it dropped from pagerank 4 to 1 and when searching I have to click through to page 10 or further to find anything, while the is being refreshed every day with at least three pages. I made a sitemap and this is indexed completely by google.

If you have time, take a look at the site and report anything you thinkg might be wrong: https://www.bt10.nl

  • Have you added in the Google XML Sitemap plugin? Do you have a Google account and using Webmaster Tools and Analytics? I just checked and that site has a Google PR of 2. To get to the first page, based on my own experience you need quality content, first and foremost, but I’ve seen pages on my site go to the top 10 after I changed the title tag to have the key phrase at the beginning and making sure the h1 (top header aka page title). Not saying that those changes alone will help, but just some insight from me.

Yes I have, and also the webmaster tools and analytics. I’ll look into the titles, and if that doesn’t help, wait for the next google pagerank update :).

If you were using some backlink generation scheme, that may explain the drop from pagerank 4 to 1. It appears that Google has, over the last week, deindexed network backlinks. And many sites have moved drastically in Google Search positions.
