Hello…I need a different header image to correspond to each page. Random image rotator does not work for me. How can call for a specific image to be assigned to a specific page?

    Thank you.

  • Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. It is the default WordPress theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues. Create a child theme for your changes.

Thank you and I have already created the child theme. Now, how can I call for a specific image to be assigned to a specific page?

    Thank you.

Before we go any further, can I clarify something? Are these images specific to a given static Page or Post? Or might 1 image be used on many Posts or Pages?

Yes, the images are specific to a static page. Twenty eleven allows for the choice of 1 image to repeat per page, or for random images to appear per page. I can’t use either.

What I need is this…When you choose a new page on my site, I want a new image to appear that’s relevant to the page name…ie; Home/About Us/Contact Us/FAQ’s/ etc… they would all be different images. I’m assuming these changes need to be made in functions.php.

    Thanks

Aha! In that case, you don’t need a child theme. Twenty Eleven already has this built-in via the Featured image functionality (although it’s not exactly obvious). If you upload a 1000px by 288px image and make it the featured image for a given Page or Post, that image will be used as the banner/header – just for that Page or Post.

    Does that fit the bill?

Yes! I just tried it with an image that’s the correct size (1000×288) and it worked perfectly…thank you very much! The image has to be 1000×288, and you’re right…it’s not that obvious.

    Thank you! Please close out…

Hi! I have the same problem and cannot find “Featured image functionality”
If I upload image (1000px by 288px) I have option tpo attach to post or page but If do it then nothing happens. I still have the same banner/image for all pages.
Can You help me fix this?

Ok, In polish version of wp it is a bit different name for that, but I found it.
    Thank You!

Hi, I am currently using Twenty Eleven with a child theme and would like to have different header images for each static page. The height dimensions for the ‘featured image’ don’t work for my site – it’s not high enough.
Can I either change the height of the ‘featured image’ (which seems would be easiest) or can I have a different header image on each page?

Thanks for the above advice. I have succeeded in inserting different images for the headers on each page. However, as well as appearing as the header the 1000×288 image is appearing in the image gallery on the page. I am trying to delete it from the page but end up also deleting it from the header. Can you suggest a way of only inserting an image into the header?

I inserted the picture as a “featured image” and updated the slide. The featured picture appears on the bottom right corner in edit mode. However, The slide still shows the same main picture (the one that is inserted as the theme header).

    What step am I missing?

    I’d appreciate some direction.

    Thanks.
