Is there a way to enable guests (visitors to my blog) to submit events and have them remain in a pending status until the event is approved by an admin? That is the functionality I need. If not with Events Manager (Free version), is there another events plug in that will do that?

I need an event plug in that allows:

    1) events to be submitted by guests and approved by an admin
    2) ability to enter recurring events
    3) create event categories
    4) enter locations, show map
    5) search events
    6) display events in list (blog) format — nice to have

    Thanks,
    MissLivvy

Hi agaelonwl, I have installed the Free version and I don’t see a way to enable it so that a visitor to the blog can submit an event. It seems you have to set up users with roles and the users can then submit events. I’d like to have any visitor to the site be able to submit an event. Is that possible or am I missing it?
    Thanks very much!

you need to create a new page and use shortcode [event_form] then on Settings > General > Event Submission Forms > Allow anonymous event submissions? Yes then create a “Anonymous” subscriber as describe in the option Guest Default User

Hello. I created a new page and used the shortcode [event_form], but I cannot find the next steps you provided: “Settings > General > Event Submission Forms > Allow anonymous event submissions? Yes”.

I am trying to find a way to resolve the “Unauthorized Access: You do not have the rights to manage this Event” message when users select “Click here to submit an event”. See link…

    Thank you.

PPNWA – it’s on the General Tab in the Event Submission Forms section. Scroll down to below Submission Message box.

PS I like your web site. Nice job!

Thank you misslivvy, but I don’t see Submission Message box. I only see the following under the General > General Options tab for Event Manager…

    Disable thumbnails?
    Event Settings
    Enable recurrence?
    Enable bookings?
    Enable tags?
    Enable categories?
    Default Category
    Enable event attributes?
    Enable event custom fields?
    Event Attributes
    Default Location
    Default Location Country
    Location Settings
    Enable locations?
    Require locations for events?
    Use dropdown for locations?
    Enable location attributes?
    Enable location custom fields?
    Location Attributes
    Other Settings
    Show some love?

What am I missing? Help! Thanks.

By the way, I am running Events Manager Version 5.0.51 and WordPress Version 3.3.1. Thanks.

Sorry, I should have said under the General > Event Submissions Forms tab. It’s a few sections below the General Options tab. Let me know if you see it.

Im having same problem…I checked off all appropriate boxes, etc…and then when I go to Event Submissions Forms Tab, I click on allow anonymous event submissions? Yes”…..
    Still did not work…
Even set up a new USER in Word as ANONYMOUS, role as a subscriber…
    Still nothing…
Misslivvy – it is working for you?…whats your website address, would like to view how it comes up on your website.

..okay got it… the trick is to post the shortcode in a POST, not a PAGE

So, go to Add a New POST, title it SUBMIT YOUR EVENTS (or whatever)..and then enter the shortcode [event_form]

Mine is working with the short code in a page.

    https://www.thedancefinder.com/events/

However, in the Event Form page, I’d like to customize what it says. For example instead of “The event name. Example: Birthday party”, I’d like to have “The dance name. Example: Ballroom by the Bay”. Can I do this from the admin interface or do I need to go into the code?

    Thanks,

    misslivvy:

Looks like you have exactly what I am trying to create. How did you get the three tabs on your events page?

So, is the trick to put place [event_form] in a post vs. a page? sqmnj says this is the trick, but misslivvy says it’s in a page. Help!

    Thanks!

I’ve got it in a page. Just went to add new page, and put in the shortcode: [event_form]
Works for me. I’m using latest version of wordpress & events manager, with twenty ten theme.

Thanks. Does the theme version matter for this? Could it be why [event_form] doesn’t work for me on a page?

I am running 1.2, but I am afraid to update, since I have custom themes that I don’t want to lose.

Don’t know – do you have the space/resources for a test site? That way you could try things out, problem solve, see if it the theme that is causing the problem.
