Choosing multi-column layout by category

  • I have been rather dropped in at the deep end and asked to have a look at creating a custom theme for a site. One of the requirements is to have differing numbers of colums in our list pages for differing categories.

    Some will be 2,3 or 4 columns (each page showing only that many articles).

    Is there a way in wordpress to set a number of posts to show per category?
