Custom home page import

Greetings –

I’m pretty sure you can have a custom home page for a Word Press site and I’m thinking that I’d like to try one. I don’t remember where I saw the instructions for the ‘hook’ that lets you use a custom page instead of the theme home page. Any ideas where I might look or what I might use.
