    Hello All,

I have a username for admin purposes, however I have a nickname set to display publicly. This is the name under which my posts appear.

However when a user clicks on this public display name to view other articles by this nickname, the author archive URL appears under my username, which should not happen.

    e.g. https://www.mydomain.com/author/username

    instead of

https://www.mydomain.com/author/nickname (the name that appears as the post author)

I have searched the forums but have not found a fix for this.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    My theme is Prosense….

Does anyone have an ideas for a workaround, i.e. disable author archives?

What does your theme use to display the author’s name?

I’m not sure….you mean what string of code? I’ll have to look around in my theme files….

In the meantime, I’ve just come up with a workaround, which is to create another user whose username is the same as the display name. I just did a bulk edit to change authorship of all the posts to the new user….

    Same question! ??

Linking to the nickname makes so much more sense to me (even if displaying the the person’s full name). When we link to the username we’re giving away half the battle of hacking into someone’s account. Linking to the nickname would be better.

Yes many usernames are guessable, but if the author page links are going to give away the username, what’s the point of making my username be gary23890324?
