  • Have you deactivated all plugins to test for a conflict?

Just try it and nothing happened.

I try it on the computer with my brother and there it was also the same problem
    on al of my site’s.

You can also try switching to the 2011 theme and testing. Something is conflicting there.

If the theme switch doesn’t work, try a reinstall of WP

You can reinstall the current version from the upgrade tab…..

    Thanks for the tip .

    Delete the wp-admin folder.

Go get a FRESH copy from https://www.ads-software.com/download/

    Upload the folder from there.

@ipstenu, something I hadn’t thought about since the partial upgrades … erm … upgrade went down

When reinstalling through the upgrade tab, do all files get replaced, or … how does that work now?

I used to reinstall through the upgrade tab to a lot of success (and then revert to FTP if necessary) for troubleshooting…. but I just realized I don’t quite know what reinstalling through the upgrade tab does now…?

Thanks ! Keep on trying new things !

Prior to 3.3(?), all files were replaced but I think auto-upgrades are now only partial replacements (ie only modified files are replaced).

No – your site’s content will still be safe in your database.

Will try it ! Let you guys know if it works ! Thanks

That’s what was confusing me…. it gives you the option to reinstall the same version. So technically no files would have been altered between 3.3.1 and 3.3.1. So it replaces nothing, or everything?

Or does it just replace the same files that were done on the last upgrade? i.e. from 3.3 to 3.3.1?

Sorry for semi-hijacking this thread, just trying to know how this works… to see if that re-install option is still a useful tool or not….

I’m a bit hazy on the details but I think that’s how it works.

Guess I could just do it… and then check the file timestamps eh? Dunno why I didn’t think of that sooner… ??

3.3 to 3.3.1 only changes the changed files in 3.3.1.

3.3.x to 3.4 will change ALL the files.

This was done in 3.2, so 3.2 to 3.2.1 was small, but 3.2.1 to 3.3 was big ??

    Thank you, Nacin.

(ETA: A reinstall is always a full reinstall)

THAT is the piece of info I was looking for, thank you much!

Hi, everyone. I’m having the exact same problem right now.

I had experienced this problem after importing 4,000 posts earlier this morning (split into a dozen XML files) … something in WP Importer caused my Desktop to do this halfway through, which is really frustrating because it took so long to get all the posts re-imported and I don’t want to do it again if this manual TOTAL re-install method mentioned above wipes out everything.

Does anyone know what file in particular causes the Dashboard to break like this?
