I am using WP 3.2.1 with PageLines Platform 1.3.9.

One of my editors added a page but mucked up the formatting, so I wanted to tidy it up – a 5 minute job, I thought. But when I go to dashboard > pages, it is not there. I know it exists, because it is visible on the site with a page ID of 614, but it isn’t listed. If I try to edit it using the “edit doc” link on the page, I get the error “You can’t edit this item because it is in the Trash. Please restore it and try again.” However, there is nothing in trash.

I am running a number of plug-ins, but I have tried deactivating all of them and it makes no difference.

So where is the mystery page hiding?

If it helps, here is a link Problem Page

As you can see, I am using the plug-ins “Inline Posts” and “Table of Contents Plus” to link a number of pages into a single page, with a Table of Contents at the top. The rogue page, ID 614, contains item 5 onwards in the ToC.

However, this is not the issue because I can deactivate those plug-ins… in fact, all my plug-ins… and I am still left with a mystery page 614 which cannot be seen from the dashboard, and which gives the error message if I try to use the edit link on it.

Ignore the link in the post above. It now points to the page after I fixed it. I didn’t get any responses here, and I never found the cause of the problem, so I had to work around it. I created a new page, copied all the text and links across from the old one (I could still see it on the website, just couldn’t find it from dashboard) then swapped the references from the old page to the new.

The phantom page 614 is still drifting about somewhere like a little electronic Mary Celeste.
