[Plugin: SimpleModal Login] How to avoid wp-login page?

  • I installed this plugin as a way to avoid the default WordPress login page (even restyled) entirely. But it’s a little inconsistent in how it works.

    All the links work fine, switching back and forth between login, register, and reset password, within the modal window, UNTIL you do something wrong and it throws an error message. Try to log in, for instance, and get an error, figure you’ve forgotten your password, and click “Lost your password?”

    Immediately, you’re thrown to the login page. Clicking any link (for instance, “Register” instead of “Lost your password”) will send you to the login page. This is exactly what I wanted to avoid. Am I doing something wrong; neglecting to do something I ought; or is this simply a bug in the plugin and there’s nothing I can do about it?

    Use the Ajax after the TML has been installed and configured. WP needs to come up with a better login procedure, core stuff.

    Will do what, I am responding to your post.

    Will avoid seeing that nasty WP login URL and keep registered users from seeing any of the dashboard elements.

    Well…I installed it, enabled it, and it immediately screwed up my entire site. Luckily, I was still able to trash it.

    Are you a seasoned WP site builder? That plugin is harmless. There are other issues with your built. Possibly another plugin is messing with it.

    According to the plugin page, 39% of users say it’s broken in 3.2.1. Possibly it’s not as harmless as you think. At any rate, it does nothing to fix my problem with SimpleModal Login.

    SimpleModal is an AJAXed login routine which prevents a page load. It does little to hide the WP login page/URL. You need to hide the dashboard and the WP wp-login or wp-admin from the public. TML is used fairly widely among WP site builders and plugin developers alike. Like the 39 percent, there are other issues and not with TML.

    Wow @mtnexile you’re kind of an ass. I would suggest you find an experienced WordPress developer to resolve your issue or figure it out yourself. However, I imagine with that attitude you’ll have a tough time finding someone to help without compensation.

    Did you deactivate other plugins then retest?

    well i have been using TML and its an excellent plugin. MtnExile needs to grow up …
