single post index page with is_single layout?

    I don’t usually like to ask questions, since someone has undoubtedly figured out my problem and posted it somewhere, but this time I just want to go to bed:

    Essentially all I want is to be able to tell my index page “posts_per_page=1” and is_single(true), so that you immediately get the latest post, with comments and the simple img-based prev/next nav I set up…
    Only I just can’t seem to tell the index page to display single posts, and going looking for some way to have index as a redirector is just messy, let alone the fact that I couldn’t figure out how to cleanly extract the latest post ID so that it could be placed into a php function…

    Okay, of course it was going to happen, but by posting this, I provided a tag to ‘is_single’, which after posting, I followed, which lead me to https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/43446 – which solved my problem.

    Brilliant.

    If anyone has anything further to add for the hell of it, I’d still be interested, but I’m cool now.
