• Hi

First off, I am aware of 3 amazon plugins for WP – WP Amazon, AMM and CG-Amazon, but from what I can gather none of them seem to match my requirements…

    This is what I need:

    • List of books/films on sidebar (counts out WP Amazon I think)
    • Uses UK Amazon website (Counts out CG-Amazon)
    • Allows more than one category to be displayed on sidebar (e.g. books, films) – this counts out AMM at the moment.

Does anyone know a way to get round this? Or any hacks for those plugins I mention?

    Cheers

    Ian

  • Why not use hardlinks ?

hmmm… now there’s an idea! I’d forgotten you could associate images with links…

I’m not actually doing this for myself (If I was I’d just hard code them in) but I’m setting it up for someone else who isn’t very computer literate so I’m trying to make it as simple as possible.

I used AMM and at one time in my sidebar had a book, film and cd section.

Basically, I followed the instructions to create 3 custom function calls so that each one handled a specific media type. Then made the space in my sidebar, and called the funcions so they showed up.
It did work nicely, when I had them up.

Vryce is dead right, you can display with AMM any Amazon category at all, including washing machines and garden furniture…! What’s more, you can mix and match the categories and write your own output templates to make it look just like you want it.

Umm, since I never saw this thread thought I’d chime in.

CG-Amazon has been able to do international Amazon site specification since at least last Summer (probably more like a year now). It can display your own category groupings of products (now reading, now watching), as well as ‘live’ queries of any Amazon category of products, or a keyword-based query, or top products queries. And you can do as many calls to it as you want on the page.

It can even be ‘smart enough’ to not show duplicate entries of a given product in multiple lists (show first only) — but that can be disabled if you want things multiple times.
