• I’ve been looking through www.ads-software.com themes for ages (and wordpress.com themes as well) but can’t find the kind of theme I’m looking for, and I could really use some help. It’s very possible I’m not searching properly. I feel really lost, basically.

Is there a theme with a wide 650px (or larger) main column for posts with one right sidebar, and a header and background that can be customized?

Difficulty: I can’t code. I’ve seen several posts of people widening the columns or sidebars of a theme and it’s absolute Greek to me. The best solution, as far as I can tell, would be to find one that is already wide so I don’t have to do anything beyond new graphics in the header and possibly background.

I have a feeling you’ll say all of the themes can be modified this way, but can they be modified by someone who doesn’t know how to code?

Please don’t tell me to just stick with Blogger, because it sucks so bad its suckitude cannot be accurately quantified.

For what it’s worth, two examples of themes I like are brblack and Grey Opaque.

Any help at all would be very much appreciated.

  • well, mate
That depends on what purpose your is site is built for and on what “theme” the content your site is made.

You’re right. It’s my film blog, mostly movie reviews with lots of big promotional photos and screen captures. You can see it now at shebloggedbynight.com, but that’s a custom layout on the Blogger template. I don’t want to keep that layout, although I do want to keep the wide main column and the right sidebar.

Yes they can be modified, and yes, by someone who can’t code. Though by the end, you’ll learn ??

    Your options are
    1) Find a theme that’s good enough
    2) Learn to edit a theme that’s almost right.
    3) Hire someone

    Sorry.
