• hi,

    totally new here.

can someone please tell me what this message in my dashboard’s ‘incoming links’ box means and how to fix it.
also, is it in anyway related to the fact that when i try to install any kind of social media buttons (i.e. ‘tweet this’) they don’t even show up on my site.

    thanks in advance

    ej

It’s not an error as such. How old is this site?

    about 3 days

Then I think it’s just because your site is so new. And, no, it has nothing to do with your plugin problem.

ok.. so there is a possibility that it will rectify itself in x amount of days/weeks?

any suggestions of where to start looking for the plugin problem?

    thanks for your time!

    Yes.

Difficult to say without more details really. It could be that you’ve just been unlucky and tried a few bad/flawed plugins. Or perhaps you need to look more closely at the documentation for each plugin (some do require to make changes to your theme’s template files).

    hm..

the same plug ins were working the other day.

i heard (sifting about on google) that there could be plug in issues if you delete the footer.

i deleted the footer yesterday – to get rid of the ‘proudly powered..’ but then put it back after thinking it could be the culprit.

    but no joy.

Ah! Now, you never mentioned that you’d been theme editing recently. The devil is in the details…

Try switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

well.. i’m giving it a go, but to be honest it just feels like i might be correction am making a mess at the moment.

i am actually in twenty eleven! i know i know.. i should have made a child theme!
what i actually did instead of making a child theme, was make a copy of the twenty eleven theme, renamed it twentyelevencopy, uploaded and was working with that – up until i deleted something in a blahblah.php that i just couldn’t put back, which has now left that theme looking completely white!
i’ve deleted that theme now and am just on twenty eleven raw.

maybe i should just start over completely.

    ??

Is the copy of twenty eleven that you are using now completely unedited?

    (@ejosborne)

    well.. no.

i deleted it this morning, then activated a fresh version, but this evening i deleted the php that gets rid of the search bar. that seems to have worked.. but anyway, no, it’s no longer a fresh 2011.

i’m wondering if iv’e done something wrong with regard to the ftp upload to my server.

Re-upload a fresh copy of Twenty Eleven:
