• Hey

I have a question regarding a project I’m working on.

    Basically I need:
    – 6 websites with individual domains
    – 1 master website and 5 slaves
    – They should use the same theme except for the logos, which should be individual
    – On the master website, I must be able to create posts in a particular category, which is shown on all 6 websites. I should also be able to control the bannersystem (probably going to be “Adrotate” for all 6 sites.
    – The slave websites should be able to edit content of pages and other post categories. The post category from the “master” should be locked.

    How do I do this?
I’m thinking 6 individual installations with RSS feed from the master to take care of the locked post category… But that doesn’t really solve the banner issue.

    Any suggestions? ??

    Thanks!

They should use the same theme except for the logos, which should be individual

So long as your theme has the logo as a theme setting, that’s pretty easy (think of it like the headers on TwentyEleven, whcih can be set per site).

On the master website, I must be able to create posts in a particular category, which is shown on all 6 websites. I should also be able to control the bannersystem (probably going to be “Adrotate” for all 6 sites.

Broadcast a post/page to other blogs. Whitelist, blacklist, groups and automatic category+tag posting/creation available.
    * https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/threewp-broadcast/

Allows you to duplicate posts and pages to multiple sub-blogs at once.

The slave websites should be able to edit content of pages and other post categories. The post category from the “master” should be locked.

    That I don’t know.

Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll look into those plugins!

I think I can live with the posts from the “Master” not being locked.

But what about ads? I’ve looked at “adrotate”, but it doesn’t support multisites, which is quite important. Otherwise I’ll have to maintain the banners on all 6 versions…

    Any suggestions?

Depends on the ad source. You could hard code them into the theme, as a last resort.

I’ll be selling banner-space to advertisers. So I’ll have all the banners as jpg or swf. But they will constantly be changed, so it has to be quite easy to ad/remove banners from the system. Therefor I need to be able to maintain it all from 1 place… If an advertiser has bought 1000 impression, they will have to get 1000 impressions in total from all 6 websites.

    Does that make sense?

    Thanks again!

    Yeah. *huh*

It’s almost something I’d be running outside of the network, like using openx.
