Very customized home page (some advice, please)

The home page of the site I’m creating is rather stylized.

I’ve created a child theme, and I’m adding .html (divs, some inline styling, etc.) to the body of the page itself and gives me the results I’m looking for.

I expect to be doing ongoing maintenance on the site myself.

Is coding .html directly to the page customary? Or am I missing something?
