I am having a couple difficulties with my blog. The first is that my dropdown menu for Categories on the right hand side of the page does not seem to be working…if you select a category to view, it sends you to a page claiming that index.php could not be found on the server…I do not understand this, there most definitely is a file titled index.php. Any ideas?

The other issue is that the web address will stubbornly not go to the page unless you capitalize the word “Blog” in the address. if you try going to /blog instead of /Blog, you get the same notice, “Multiple Choices: The document name you requested (/index.php) could not be found on this server.”

  • The categories work for me.

Did you install WordPress into /blog or /Blog? Remove or rename the index.html file in the folder, it seems to be causing a conflict.

All of the Categories work? Most of then don’t when I try, for some reason only two of them will go through. Also, there isn’t an index.html file in that folder at all, that’s what’s confusing…there is an index in the parent folder for the main website but not in the Blog folder, I don’t see how it’s getting them confused.

Not all, but certainly more than 2.

What are your site URL and Home URL set to?

they’re set to the same URL that I linked to at the top of my first post in this thread

Have you tried resetting the permalinks? Visit the Settings->Permalinks page and let WordPress regenerate the .htaccess file.

Ah-ha! That seems to have fixed the problem with the categories not working. Thanks a lot. Now if only I could figure out why its still confusing that index file unless you capitalize Blog in the address…

Linux is case sensitive. Rename the folder to blog, change the URL settings and refresh the permalinks again.
